I bought this mangosteen as  "White" cultivar Garcinia mangostana.  It looks like a mangosteen to me.  If it is, than it is light years hardier than any mangosteen I have ever tried to grow.  I have recommended it to other people who want to grow mangosteens.

It has longer leaves, more like an "Achacha" (Garcinia humilis), but the leaves are thick and leathery like a typical mangosteen.

I will put it in the ground and see how it does.  I'm kind of a nut, and I used to be an electrician, so I have electrical outlets next to the holes for the trees.  I am going to cover greenhouse type space heaters, and thermostats, with a little tunnel, next to the tree.   And I'll cover the tree, and all, with a blanket for the winter.

I think I am going to succeed!

Wish you success.  Hopefully you have a bunch of solar panels for the heating and a battery.  That way you can heat when you really need it on winter nights and before the sun heats things up in winter but when there is no solar production.  Arbitrage of sorts.  I like the look of those thick leathery leaves!

We have solar on the house and a "Powerwall".  Our electricity does not cost a thing.
