I am planning a vivarium which will be home for  New Caledonia native geckos (trio of Eurydactylodes agricolae). If possible, I’d like to set it up with plants native.

Any New Cal flora enthusiasts out there that can give me ideas for plants that can be found available and will stay small enough for a terrarium? The only thing I have so far is Plerandra elegantissima (gold crest false aralia). Terrestrial and epiphytic plants welcome!

What happened to all the users who knew everything about everything from a few years ago?! 😅

Did you ever build this? I'm in the process of building a tropical terrarium as a case to rear young palm seedlings and possibly for germination. Not planning on using it for anything but plants in my case, but I hope you got your geckos set up in a beatiful New Caledonian paradise.

Seems like birds nest fern (Asplenium nidus) and other ferns are popular choices. I don't think you can go wrong with the epiphytic broms or orchids.  As for non-NC natives, maybe creeping fig (Ficus pumila), philodendrons, pothos, etc.

An obvious suggestion would be the wonderful Blechnum obtusatum. I tried growing these from spore but had no luck; they probably wouldn't have survived in my environment anyway, but a terrarium would be perfect for them.
