I have seen Sugarloaf Pineapple for sale at the local HD.  Internet searches say 9a, but I thought frost kills them.

Has anyone grown these outdooors in N. Florida or S. Georgia? Or similar climate? I may pick one up.

I've grown "Lava Burst," "White Jade," and Ananas Comosus "Variegatus" here in the Orlando area.  The Lava Burst get torched (ahahahahahah omg I kill me!) with any frost or temps below freezing.  But they cluster rapidly and grow back.  White Jade is (I think) similar to Sugarloaf and does ok at 24-26F with frost.  But they burned back enough that I probably won't get a fruit this year.  Comosus Variegatus grows well in part shade and likes the protection too.  I like the pineapples better too, but the serrations are absolutely brutal.

I had cut the top off one years ago from the super market and planted it in the N. Facing flower bed. It never burned, but was slow growing.

It was about 2’ in diameter until the delivery person decided to step on it. That killed it unfortunately. The sugarloaf does look very different than the store bought.

I know nothing about the sugarloaf so I am delaying the purchase for now.
