Saw one of these up at a BB today pretty cheap and figured what the hell. I did a bit of searching about their hardiness but it was all over the place. Some sources said zone 9 and others said never below freezing. Does this thing have any chance here in a warmish 8b?

Thanks

Some "hardier" cultivars can withstand temps down to about 27-28F with defoliation but will come back relatively unscathed.  Once you have extended duration in the mid 20'sF or lower, most get killed back to the ground.  At that point, some will spring back from the roots and others will become compost. In an 8b climate, I'd keep it potted and bring indoors when anything below freezing is forecasted.
