I hate bugs.

Despite the soil being completely dry in my Office Aloes, the fungus gnats are going ape poopy which isn't ideal. I've got mosquitoes and gnats on my patio, and gnats in my apartment.

Suggestions for carnivores to kill them. Cheap sources appreciated as well. I'm eyeballing some Sundews from ummmm Killer Plant Company. Already using sticky traps and H2O2.

Saw that. Guess I'll try a sundew in the office window and report back on how it works.

I had a venus flytrap decades ago when I was a boy, and it very swiftly died (although pretty much everything did then as I yet didn't understand the basics of how to grow plants). But rain-water-only, unobtainable and expensive specialist acidic medium-only, look at it in the wrong way and it'll keel over. And they're tiny and you never see them move!

Now I have a new problem: cats bring in various small mammals, some of which they fail kill properly, which thereupon escape into various inaccessible nooks and crannies and expire, prompting biblical plagues of flies now and then. I went with Nepenthes alata, which is supposed to be easy. Still apparently needs rainwater, which really isn't something I can be bothered to provide, although I can make the medium really acidic to counteract any basic compounds if need be.
I went for the cheapest option, of course, which is tiny and couldn't possibly ensnare any of the blowflies I wanted rid of. Oh well, hopefully it will grow. Better than spending lots of money on a big one and finding I can't keep it alive.

I'm interested to hear how your sundews go. Practically all carnivorous plants seem to be very fussy, though. Maybe have a go with Nepenthes if the sundews don't work.

I use tap water for my nepenthes ventrata and it seems to be happy with it, I just water it deeply so the buildup of salt would wash away and not accumulate.
