Who ever doesn't enjoy habitat shots of these Agave might need a closer view of the edge of those ledges.  Careful.. :D   Great shots :greenthumb:

Ryan,  if you live in St. George you are probably close to Snow Canyon State Park.  I've seen them growing in the red rocks there.  You could get some great habitat photos.

Yes, oddly there have been complaints filed to both eBay and local jurisdictions, and as far as I can tell nothing has been done.

Alas this species and many other's demise will be by the hands of humans. :(

These pictures are fantastic. How cold hardy would you rate the A. utahensis? I assume it's very sensitiv to humidity? Sometimes you can get seeds here in Europe but I cannot grow more plants in pots.

Eckhard

Thank you, kindly.
i would rate extremely hardy.  The mojave gets extremely cold some years. Some of the ridges it grows are comparable to zone 6b - though extremely dry.

I’d image not nearly as hardy with humidity - I’d they lived. Their habit is typically in rocks on ledges where rain water freely drains away.
i have collected and germinated seeds from every form every the years but the ssp. eborispina - which I plan to do this fall. :greenthumb:

interesting side note, the “beaver dam mountain form”  (picture here) of Agave utahensis seems to have characteristics of both ssp. nevadensis and ssp. utahensis…

note: these just my own observations.

Agreed. I will have to take some there as well. What interests me about snow canyon is that they seem to also grow out of the gypsum rock.
Not in Snow Canyon, but a few canyons to the west:
