Mahonia oiwakensis

Featured Replies

This mahonia has been impossible for me to find stateside.  I found a couple vendors in the UK but I'm guessing, for phytosanitary cert and customs, the juice will not be worth the squeeze.

I'm probably just talking to myself as this is an obscure Mahonia.  But if you're ever in the market for a Mahonia, Cistus on Sauvie island has a bunch that you may not have heard of.  Including the plant in question, which they are currently using to propagate and isn't for sale.

I acquired one of these a few months ago, they weren't even for sale but a gal at Cistus was kind enough to sell me one anyway.

There were two rooted cuttings in the pot, I took a gamble and separated them.  One i planted directly in ground, it hasn't started growing yet.

This one has been under some weak grow lights and has put out 5 new leaves.  Beautiful plant, very wild looking.  Looking forward to it maturing a bit and seeing more leaflets.
