Matteucia or Diplazium?

So I believe I have some jargon incorrect (compound/double pinnate vs crenulated?)  But this video I think presents my confusion.  I also ordered some alleged Matteucia struthiopteris (labelled "Tennessee Ostrich Fern) off ebay.  I think the ebay title is what started this quandry.

I've dug up a lot of ostrich fern (Matteuccia) over the years as it was a very common native plant in Ontario.  They have a knob kind of like a small trunk, so I'm not sure if they were harvested and this is cut off if they would survive.  If you look at the range map for this plant it does not occur in TN.

This seems to be your match

That's what I figured.  Thanks.

The Matteuccia are the ones you find in the grocery store as fiddleheads.  You could also go and easily harvest your own, when they first emerge.  It's an old fashioned/native edible plant, but you have to pick them when they're young.

Close to me there is a area of TN where there are tons of wholesale plant growers.  This is a area that produces tons of plants for sale across the nation.  They have nursery's there that specialize in ferns.  Look up McMinnville TN.  They sometimes list excess stock on Ebay but are usually wholesale places
