I think it's because they are RARE Paul.  I got those pics from a guy in Australia.  He wants one too.  I think they are from that penninsula that sticks out east on PNG.  I even asked on a PNG board once a few years back...nada.

I first learned about this tree in Menninger's "Flowering Trees of the World".  It was listed as the rarest tree in the entire tome...they didn't even have a photo for it back then.

Hey Ron,

I really like your tree wish list posts.  Don't have much to say about them (other than they're all real cool, unusual, and beautiful), but wanted to let you know that it's always fun to see a new tree and maybe add some to my own wish list.

I know this post is from almost 20 years ago 😆

 

Does anyone have photos of this tree? I can only find an illustration. Id love to see real photos.

Does anyone grow it yet?
