Are there any reputable domestic suppliers for less common cycad seeds besides the occasional eBay seller?

I would like to expand my collection without having to deal with US customs or CITES.

I believe there are.

Some examples of what your looking for would help.

Ceratozamia, Lepidozamia, Bowenia, Stangeria, or uncommon Zamia and Cycas. There is nothing available in my area besides the common sago and the occasional Dioon edule, but California and Florida may have resources.

The last time I ordered from outside the US, the post office sat on the seeds for 2 months after they took a month to clear customs.

I have heard of the PO sitting on imported seeds as well. As for your wanted species, I am not aware of anyone here in Southern CA that has those species.

Hopefully, someone else will post some guidance for you.

Good luck on the search.

Thanks. I had considered the wanted section, but felt this forum was more appropriate.

I'm not in a rush to buy right now, but I'm looking for sources, both commercial and private in which to patronize in the future.

You might contact Tom Broome in FL for Ceratozamia & uncommon Zamia.  I got some Zamia seeds from him a couple years back.  I think he avoids the Cycas because scale is so bad in FL.  There are also a couple people in the US that sell on Ebay that I have patronized in the past, and got good seed each time.  I suspect most commercial outfits prefer to sprout all their seeds to sell as liners or larger plants for more $$.

Thanks, I'll try to get a hold of him, is he still in business?
