After enjoying a nice Sunday brunch I noticed this citrus tree planted outside the restaurant. Upon attempting to get a piece a fruit i was promptly stabbed by a long thorn. Is this a citrumelo tree?

I'm not sure about the identification, but did you try the fruit yet and what was the outcome?

No, Citrumelo have trifoliate leaves. Looks like some type of mandarin.

Probably Changsha being it's in Myrtle beach. Cut is open & see how many seeds there are.

@amh the fruit had a sweetness up front that was followed by a tart finish, both of which were pretty mild

@Laaz yea I noticed it wasn't trifoliate but somewhat overlooked it; here are a couple of fruit and seed detail pics. The seeds shown came from half of the piece of fruit.
