RIP Christopher Baasch

Most of you will not have known Chris, as he has spent a few decades living in Venezuela. I met him in Southern California in the very early stages of my palm obsession. He was passionate about plants and landscaping, and equally passionate about kindness to all humans and living things.  In Venezuela he went on to create extraordinary landscaping projects and gardens. Below you will find links to his business website and articles with the very sad and shocking details of his death.

Terrible. I know it's a beautiful country and that he had deep ties there, but I can't imagine living there right now. Best wishes to his friends, family, and the people of Venezuela.

Oh my gosh Kim!  He came to my house years ago.  He was younger than me.  I'm so sorry to hear this! Really a wonderful person.

Thanks for sharing, @Kim!

I never met him, but I'm glad to know of his accomplishments.

It's late for condolences, but I send them anyway . . .

Chris told me years ago about the uncertainties of life living down there. Total bummer. One of the nicer guys I've had the pleasure to know.

Chris' parents had/have a home right up the street from Holiday Park. Might I add, posting in the 'Memorials' forum is not something I'm sure none of us look forward to doing.
