Just curious what I could get away with in my zone. Nothing screams tropical to me like a good cluster of ginger.

I did just order some hedychium coronarium, but are there any others?

I plan on adding them to a bed that already has some established musa basjoo.  The ginger will probably get similar protection as the bananas. This is gonna be the most tropical looking yard in Idaho I tell ya what :D

You might research the following Genus.. I know there are hardy species in each group but can't name them at the moment..
Alpinia
Curcuma
Cautleya
Kaempferia
Zingiber
No doubt there are other hardy Hedychium species/ cultivars worth looking into also.

Maybe Hedychium coccineum.  I see some of the varieties listed as zone 7B.

I have Dr Moy and Tara but I'm in zone 8B and don't have to provide any protection.
