Hello everyone, I have this pineapple outside in a pot in Lisbon since November. It has been getting some yellow and brown patches that seem to lead to tip burn, any advice? I believe it might be over watering as we have a dish below it and it seems to always have water? The first few cm/inches are moist but not what I would call very wet, maybe the problem is deep below, or something totally unrelated? It is weird that it only gets it now and for some reason lower leaves seem to be better?

Thanks in advance.

I treat my pineapple like a succulent.  Only ever fill the cup with water on occasion and if it's outside I make sure it never sits in water.

I brought mine inside last fall and barely watered it all winter.  It's now fightin' mad to get outside again and throwing LONG fronds to soak up that direct easterly sun.

Thank you!

So do you believe this might be too much water? Could it be sunburn now that the sun is getting stronger, it doesn't get more than 3-4 hours of direct sunlight.

I think that is an overwatering problem.  Mine have no problem with direct sun, but the roots can rot out if they get too much water.

Yeah, mine will get direct sun all day as soon as it's warm enough to go outside.  These plants evolved and were cultivated in northern South America and into Central America.  They can take the sun all day.

Temps are up enough I'm not worried about the overnight low.  Decided to go ahead and throw this guy outside.  East face of the house, used to be in the window just behind it.

Really took off this winter with the new house and the sunny windows, I'm hopeful this multi-year sad-sack will finally flourish this summer!
