Wow you just missed one local , well and so did I =/ Not even sure if Patric is still making these hybrids anymore. Haven't heard his name in awhile lately. I do know of a PT member who has one but it's in Arizona. Try @SailorBold he was selling one on ebay at one time

Mule Palms of Mississippi claims to have done the cross in the past. I emailed them in January, never got a response, then their website changed to state “Nursery closed until February 2020”. You might try contacting them now to see.

I just bought a tiny one from Patric, bringing my collection now to two.  He told me that his yield this year was very poor, so he doesn't expect many additional JxS in the upcoming year. I do not think anyone else is doing this cross and wouldn't trust anyone from the southeast claiming to have done so. Who in that region has a flowering Jubaea?

With that said, Patric has a lot of excellent hybrids with great potential for our region. If I were you I would reach out to him about one of his BxPJ crosses. I have two of each, and I think the most promising one so far is the Parajubaea torallyi cross. Mine are all still small, but this ones came very robust and seem to be growing, while the other ones are crawling along.

Almost positive he gets those from Patric. There is no flowering mother Jubaea anywhere near Mississippi

Is the JxB and F1? I would be quite surprised if it is. That being said if it is an F1 I would be interested as well.  I'm only aware of a very few flowering JxB's F1 in FL and they are all very recently doing so.

The Jubutia is an F3.

Will be working with a gentlemen in the near future who has mature, flowering Jubaea x Butia F1 to hybridize with Butia, Syagrus Romanzoffiana, Schizophylla, Amara (if I can track down the pollen), Sancona, etc... looking forward to it!!

No, I haven't considered them yet... Will want to wait for the seed production and availability before placing price tags on them.

I was fortunate enough to get a couple of these from Patric(k) Schaffer in 2012. One went in the ground in the spring of 2014 shortly after I bought my house, the other languished in a pot until summer of 2018. So they are both the same age here is an update today. The larger is probably close to 16 feet to the top of the tallest frond the other a little over 6 feet. They don't get any special fertilization treatment just crappy Florida soil (sand).  The large one seen temps down to 21oF with no observed damage. The latest USDA climate zones moves me from 8b to 9a, as much as I want this to be the case I would rather be cautious, we do dip down into the upper teens about every 10 years or so with mid 20's for sure every year.

Beautiful hybrid.  Patrick Shaefer's latest list doesn't show this palm (JXS). Know of anyone else selling them?

Welcome to PT where information is a plenty. This particular cross will be extremely hard to find as I don't believe anyone is making this cross anymore. Now (BxJ)xS on the other hand is still possible to get as Patric is still doing this cross but his inventory may be low or non existent =/

We will have adequate inventory of jxs f1 in 2 years. It's a pet project of ours that should come to fruition in late early 2022.

I prefer B involved in a cross I've realised. Any BxJ or JxB f2/f3 where you see more B characteristics will be my ideal palm. Any of these you have or likely to have in stock?

@rarepalmaddictI dont believe there is anyone with a seeding tree in these circles. If there were, they would be a hot commodity. Patric is the only one I know of who is making this hybrid.
