ISO Canna Liliiflora - scented canna

Featured Replies

Canna Liliiflora  is a wild species that has not been seen for at least 20 years. It was used extensivly for  hybridizing  large flowered cannas , but it seems to be impossible to find nowadays  in cultivation and in the wild .  It would grow along rivers, wet forests and at the edges of roads where it is wet in the region of Cuzco(Peru), Cochabamba and La Paz (Bolivia). It grows to a height of 3 meters, has white flowers 10 to 13 centimeters long and emits a sweet honeysuckle aroma. It produces seeds in autumn. If you have any information or pictures in habitat , it would be wonderful to know that this magnificent canna has not disappeared.  i,m searching for seeds . Thanks a lot

Did you ever find seeds of C. liliiflora? I'm also looking for seeds of C. iridiflora (true species, not Ehemanii), C. bangii, C. pedunculata and C., tandilensis . I have the other six accepted species, all grown from seed received many years ago. So, no virus. Randy in the OC
