Calla Lily with dark foliage and flowers

Featured Replies

This might not be anything new, but I've never seen a calla lily like this one before.  Thought it was worth sharing.  This one had the darkest foliage and covered the entire plant.  Most of the ones I saw had the same dark flowers, but with green foliage. A few had darker areas on the foliage, but were mostly green.

Wow. This is one to be enjoyed up close so as not to miss that rich purple color. It's a new one to me!

Wow where did you get the plant from?

Me as well. Couldn't find an exact match when looking over the net either.. Have seen black, darkest red/ purple flowered Callas, or Canna varieties w/ dark leaves, but not one or the other with both dark leaves / flowers. Wil be interesting to see how it grows.. if the leaves stay dark, or turn more green as they mature.

About as unique as Tacca chantrieri ( Black Bat Flower ) or some of the naturally solid Black colored Orchids, particularly many varieties within a 3 way intergenetic cross in the Catasetum Alliance called Fredclarkeara... Many have such hybrid names as "After Dark",  " Black.. Cherry,  Pearl, "etc..

Halloween promotion from Trader Joe's and Sprouts markets.
