Honestly, you may not be able to save it. Whatever caused the rot looks like it extends well up into the core ( center ) of the plant.

If  ..and at this stage, its quite a long shot, there is any part of the core left after cutting out all of the brown, decayed material, down to clean tissue,.. it might be possible to get it to re-root ( dust the base w/ Sulfur and rooting powder, place in nearly pure Pumice. Watch like a hawk ) but it will  take a long time before it recovers / looks like it used to.  Bummer.:( Sucks to loose such a nice Agave.

Completely agree with silas on this one. Rot went too far into the core. Bummer. Expect months and months of remaining color in those leaves but no growth.

So I cut this plant back and fortunately I don’t think the rot went as far back as it looks . I have rooted out pups that had way less going for them so we will see what happens worse thing is I don’t have to many warm days ahead of me . Will keep every one posted

I have already dusted it with fungicide and rooting hormone and it is sitting in pumice so we will see

Definetly will I was almost debating on not even cutting the rot off it had already hardened off real nice I. 24 hours but that’s ok I’ve rooted lots of pups with zero roots. Not sure if anyone remembers the variegated Ovatifolia I almost lost last year. But that plant had lots of rot and was shriveled into a ball that plant is beautiful now it also had zero roots . I will post a before and after of that one
