Hey everyone,

does anyone know of a bromeliad nursery that sells overseas? Maybe in Florida or elsewhere in the states?

I am mainly looking for colorful neoregelia hybrids, not for neo. species or bromeliads of other genera. In Europe there are only very few nice cultivars available and I would love to expand my collection. =)

I found a nursery in Queensland, Australia (bromeliadexoticsonlinestore.com) with an amazing range and really good prices but they don't sell overseas and they don't respond to my messages (I aksed whether they would make an exception from a certain order amount). Furthermore I don't know whether the business is still existing at all, as they indicate on their website that the nusery is for sale. It's for sale since I visited this website for the first time in 2015 or 2016.

So I wondered if anybody could recommend a nursery with a good range of noeregelias that sells internationally? Phytosanitary document is required in case the German custom would open the parcel. (They don't check each and every parcel, but if they do and they find plants without phytosanitary document they are going to confiscate and destroy them).

Google search results don't really help me. I could only find a few nursery, most of them are wholesalers and only have a very little range.

Every hint or link is appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance!

Tropiflora in Sarasota might ship overseas. They are the bromeliad guys in Florida IMO. They hybridize their own plants and have a huge selection of many many different types of bromeliads and related plants like Tillandsia, and also things like Caudiciforms and Dischidia and stuff like that.

In Spain we have plantabrutt.eu. They sell to Europe and have lots of different bromeliads.

With this company you will have your Neos in a few days, with cheap price and with no custom problems.

Other option is Canarius.com, they are from Canary islands and sell tropical plants and of course, bromeliads.

They are slower than plantabrutt and the quality is not as good as plantabrutt, but is other good option.

These are the best option for Europe.

Buy plants overseas is expensive, slow and only an option if you want to find very rare plants.

My experience with plantabrutt was great. Good prize and quality. I think the owner is german.

Thanks guys for your answers.

I ordered from plantabrutt last year and was very happy about the quality. The delivery time and prices were good as well.

Unfortunately they didn’t (and still don’t) have a big choice of medium to big sized neos that are really colorful and/ or have an unsual pattern.

Same thing with tropiflora that I found when I did my online research for nurseries.

I just thought that when an Australian nursery has such a wide range of great cultivars there must be even more or at least the same available in the US because first of all the states should be a bigger market due to higher population and secondly many of the cultivars are actually bred there. Maybe my assumptions are not correct?!?

You are a Neo gourmet!:D

If you look for in ebay and facebook, may be you will find some sellers from Thailand and other asian countryes. They have amazing bromeliads and sell overseas and if you are lucky, the customs will be good and don't touch your Neos.

I don't have experience buying bromeliads, but two years ago i was buying Plumerias from a thai sellerand the experience was good and no problem with spanish customs.

Yes, I'm afraid I am a bit picky

I ordered twice caladium bulbs from Thailand. The first parcel had a phytosanitary document, and wasn't opened by the customs. I received it without any problems.

My second order didn't include a phytosanitary document and was checked by the customs. They destroyed the bulbs end send me the empty parcel (which I found quite sadistic by the way). I think that wasn't a problem if there had been a phytosanitary document attached to the bulbs.

I will try to find a Thai seller and give it a shot.

Thanks
