Zamia variegata

Do Zamias normally throw this many cones?  I think I've counted 12 so far.  I thought they were male cones but I don't know too much about cycads.  Any ideas?

Mike,

You got a male all right. Males usually throw more cones than the female. And their thinner, where females are fatter. This zamia will cross with other species very easy, so be careful if you have other species around.

My youngster is also producing male cones, possibly its first crop.   So far, yours has more cones, but mine looks like it's getting busy.  I think I'll schedule a de-coning session for tomorrow.
