I bought this encephalartos longifolius from the Ironmongerers about 4-5 years ago. Each flush keeps getting better. Starting to show a little blunt tip at the ends of the leaves. I wish all the leaves did that.

While I don't have the blunt tip form, I seem to recall hearing that they can take time to develop that characteristic.  Yours is good size now, but in the typical life of an Encephalartos is still relatively young, so perhaps patience will be rewarded.  E longifolius is a great looker!!!  I love it!  Wish my largest one would flush, but it's pushing another cone instead.  Last summer it pushed out 3 cones (male), with no flush in between that and the current "coning".  I preach patience, but seem to lack it at times.

Patience is a hard thing, especially with cycads because they grow so darn slow. It makes it that much more exciting when they do flush though. At maturity Longifilolius are absolutely stunning. You are right, although decent sized, still so young. Sounds like you are due for an enormous flush with your longifolius. It must be pretty big. I have tons of them and hadn't had one cone yet. From what I hear the female cones of longifolius are one of the largest cones out of all of the species. Please post pics of you can.

cone is just pushing out and noticed since I commented that I'm getting a simultaneous "mini-flush" of 2 leaves with one cone.  My size Large Rainbow sandal for size perspective in the last shot
