This year (2017) has been a disappointing one for the Delonix regia in South Florida. We have had extremely heavy rainfall that has lessened the brightness of the plumage. Please view a few and add your own:IMG_0659.thumb.JPG.0a1848d6acd2396f16883

In a park in the Darwin suburb of Leanyer. Our peak flowering month is November just before the onset of the Monsoon.

royal poinciana starting to bloom in La Habra but I can't insert pic

Kukapalm, welcome! Congratulations on your Poinciana tree. As to inserting photos, try the test photos area as there are hints there perhaps. By no means am I technologically gifted, but I managed somehow. We'd all love a photo.

These are lovely trees! I just bought one red and one grafted yellow about 4 feet tall each and spent less than $20 altogether. Actually this morning I spent clearing several areas to find a nice sunny spot where their roots can go wherever they want.

I will put the trees there and see how they react before making up my mind. Maybe blooms in a couple of years?

Cindy,

I am certain that those will become magnanimous bloomers in the very near future. I have to believe that in your beautiful location there have to be many magnificent Royal Poincianas, although they may be in their wind down. If you get a chance, I am certain that all posters would greatly appreciate any pictorial evidence of plumage! I apologize for putting you on the spot.

Pouring rain while I was out and about today, which is of course great for plants and not so good for photos! Gorgeous now but dark soon. I will try again although they may be past peak around here.

There is a rare yellow one here in Cape Coral on Surfside.  Sorry, no picture.  The only other place I've seen one was in Hawaii.  This year I think the rains in May prohibited the profuse blooms we normally get.  Disappointing.

Here is one in my old garden...took quite a few years for it to really start blooming heavily, but eventually it got sorted! I was really happy that is was a good shade of red, as a lot are more scarlet or orange. We also have the Yellow ones here, but very hard to find. Most people just plant Peltophorums instead

Gold Coast, Queensland Latitude 28S. Mild, Humid Subtropical climate. Rainfall - not consistent enough!
