I assume it already existed there. I wouldn't think they could transplant something like that in.

They are protected here, very difficult to get permits to move. In our area there are some three times that size. Largest cactus in world are here. Only grow close to ocean.

They have been found growing east of Caborca, Sonora (over 40 mi. inland), but they are primarily a coastal species. The largest ones I have seen are growing between Hermosillo and Kino Bay, and around 15 miles west of Los Angeles Bay in Baja. They certainly are massive, but some observers have said that Pachycereus grandis growing on the border of Morelos and Puebla is taller and some specimens of Pachycereus weberi may weigh more. Who knows?

Very well could be larger elsewhere, there are some amazing examples on off-road trails near Guaymas. Locals say they are largest here.
