Hawaii Island (Big Island), leeward coast, 19 degrees N. latitude, south Kona mauka at approx. 380m (1,250 ft.) and about 1.6 km (1-mile) upslope from ocean.

No record of a hurricane passing over this island (yet!).

Summer maximum rainfall - variable averaging 900-1150mm (35-45") - Perfect drainage on black volcanic rocky soil.

Nice sunsets!

Al, great looking Zamias! Really want a Z. psuedoparasitica.

El Oasis - beach garden, distinct wet/dry season ,year round 20-38c

Las Heliconias - jungle garden ,800m elevation,150+ inches rainfall, year round 15-28c

Beautiful pseudoparasitica along with the rest.  I don't think this would do well in my climate without a greenhouse.  Looks like that shadecloth and your climate give it exactly what it needs!

Nice, though I don't think number 2 is right... that's pygmea. number 4 could be Cuban, but it's in the pumila complex

Beautifully-grown pseudoparasitica. This is one that - in the right hands - can look a lot more attractive in cultivation than in nature.
