Some of my Cashews have that habit as well, branches sprawling out along the ground. Looks like it is a characteristic of the species. And it looks like it happens in swampy ground. I don't intend letting mine sprawl out that far, even if I did live long enough for it.

Anyone know the age of the aforementioned cashew tree?
