All in all the plants on display and for sale were very "European" and reminded what we grow at home in our gardens so it wasn't too exciting for me...

Gorgeous! I spent some time in Australia last year, so interesting seeing the different vegetation througout the east coast, being from France it all looked so exotic...!

On Tuesday I flew to Darwin.

On my second day I just wandered around to have a look at the city.

I have to say that the garden beds surrounding the old administrator's office were a lot more interesting to me then the building itself ;-)

I JUST LOVED all the nice caladiums. Some of them (thick leaves, untypical leave shape) were Thai types, I reckon. What do you think?

Yowza!  Great photos!  Thanks so much for posting them.  Hey, Ben, do you know what the shrub with the large, pendulous racemes of yellow flowers is (in the photo with the cyrtostachys renda)?  I've never seen it before.  Thanks.

Livistonia Humilis ( common Top End name 'Sand Palm' )

And its a fair old walk into Motor Car Falls 'eh ? ( 7 or 8 klm round trip ) But certainly worth the effort. The several times I have visited we've had the Falls all to ourselves.

@greysrigging Thanks a lot for the identification!

Indeed I got pretty hot during the walk, but the swim was very rewarding all definitely well worth it :)

Hey guys,

sorry it took me a while to sort other things (finding a job again and a big clean up for my garden) but here are the promised pictures from Thailand, were I stayed for 8 days on my way back home at the end of April.

Bangkok has amazing plant markets. The best was the Chatuchak market. During the weeking (on Wednesday to be more precisely) the whole area is dedicated to plants. I've spent hours on this market =)
