Kris, your Hippeastrums look like varieties a bit better suited for outdoors than the huge-flowered ones sold in the U.S. for Christmas.  They thrive in Florida.  Two of mine are getting set to flower right now.

Kris, I recently took a few photos of my amryrillis in bloom the last few days. here are some photos.

yes this variety you see in our stills love heat and does not flower in shade at all and its more annual flowering.

and dear Luke(Frito)  

your lily's do look terrefic too and it seems to have flowered even in the shades of that huge tree ! and is it also annual

flowering type as i have here ?

And Luke that is not macro,and do'nt laugh that still was taken from quite a distance like as though iam covering an

entire building or a tree so long distance and then i zoomed in to that object.only close ups are shot in this

fashion.and to take macros i refered in the catalogue

states i must buy an adopter and then fix macro lens all

these are optional extras..i have spoken about these attachment to my indian friends working in the U.S to go

to the same canon stores and buy what all is needed !

and that zoom in was around 48x that is the reading it showed in the view finder.its a bit wiered to me how come

this camera want let me take stills,that i normally did

using my old analog SLR EOS series did like a charm in

manual mode.

to be honest iam stunned seeing so many varities of beautiful flowers,i have never imagined..

iam an out and out a fan of spiny,thorny phoenix & Cactus,yuccos,agaves,adeniums & boaboabs...

But never a lover of flowers till i saw your stills_Jesus !

those beauties have brought me to my knees to worship them,since we here worship nature,though mosses did not

like it.

I wish to ask HIM,who has supplied him with such a beautiful canvas and who supplied him with such lovely

colours_iam certain its not ICI-Dulux !  

And Kate thanks a lot for sharing stills of such lovely flowering plant stills with all of us.

Your pictures made me scream!

No photos of Easter lilies so far. Lilium longiflorum is native to the Ryukyu Islands, southernmost Japan, and maybe Taiwan (the lilies there seem to be a distinct species). They seem to thrive in Florida, with wet summers and dry winters. I apologize for this terrible photo, but it serves to show that these are tall plants, unlike the little potted ones you see at Easter.
