Mango Seedling Dead or Alive ?

Featured Replies

Hello. I have germinated a mango tree for 1 month and it is aprx 20 cm now but for 1 week i have a problem with it. Top part of seedling seems not doing well as it seems turning into brown and leaves dropped and only 1 survived with some defects but seems ok and green but top part of seedling seems to be going die. Do you think it is ok to go on grow this one or should i need to throw it away and germinate a new one? It does not get direct sunlight so problem might occur due to this reason. Any idea?

No it did not because i keep it inside but i have some doubts that it will not grow any longer because top part has defects. Do you think it stopped growing?

The black part IS dead - but the green part will grow back - as long as conditions are fine.

It can get cold inside - do you have air conditioning?

Some Mango's are polyembreonic so the seed pushes out more than one seedling.

I live in Istanbul so i have to keep it inside. I have natural gas radiators on. Inside of home around 18-25 C .

The air could be too dry.

Should i need to cut black part?

I would cut it off.  It kind of looks like the disease anthracnose -- which always seems to get my Kona Sharwill avocados...

I think you control it with copper sulfate.
