For the first time since I planted this star fruit from a seed twenty years ago,

yea in the past that was an issue.

generally they would flower near the first of November . And it takes about 6 to 8 weeks to ripen .

this time they flowered several weeks ago, our high temps for the next month average above 70f.

 

we shall see.

Steve, yea I know.

 

Lowest temp it has seen in 20 years is 22f.... damaged but didn't die.

Biggest problem is that its a seedling. I almost dug it up many times. Then it started to flower 5 years ago. but always late in the year. So no fruit. this year flowered early.

Jeff, I'm planning on planting one in my garden. I really did the sweet/sour flavor the fruit gives off. Not to mention they make great cocktail garnishes..

Getting cool out at night.

The few undersized fruit fell off the tree.

i picked this one today.

wonder if it will ripen off the tree?

It might, but they have a lot of oxalic acid when picked underripe, so you might not want to risk it.

thanks, its turning yellow, but I doubt it has flavor... maybe next years crop....
