Have 6 of these seedling in various locations about the yard in San Fernando Valley... some totally unprotected, some well protected.  Despite probably deaths of nearby Dypsis baroniis (two very healthy well established multiple trunked seedlings- one 2' tall, and one 6' tall overall), none of these 6 seedlings (tallest 2') was even damaged one bit... totally surprised me.  Temps down to 27F for 5 hours plus

Small plant in ground. Very sad at 26F. Spear is still green, so I'm hopeful. This IS a pretty tough plant, not bothered by blazing sun either. Even if this one croaks, I'm a believer.

I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!

Have several small 1-gallon plants. All were next to a wall but showed no damage whatsoever after 28-30 F temps.

This one could be a winner

Only that it was one of the biggest pleasant surprises IMO of the California Freeze.

I brought this small Dypsis saintelucei inside yesterday afternoon and noticed that it must be a very cold sensitive species. Granted, the palm is barely more mature than a seedling but still, the lowest it has seen this winter is low 40s.

Does anyone else have any additional experiences with this species?
