Gigantochloa robusta stripes

Featured Replies

Heres some shots 2day of recent "new culms" showing the beautiful stripes on two of our Gigantochloa robusta's ( syn Gigantochloa verticillata) the stripes stay for a good 3 yrs till the culms run out of energy and fade to yellow/brown then die, both clumps are "overdue" for a thinning/cleanup. :)

Thanks all for comments. :)

Below pics are of Gigantochloa pseudorundinacea which has great stipes and "very large" leaves but here in the cool Sub tropics takes a while to get going as it "shoots" late Autumn/early winter :bemused: A very beautiful Boo planted in the "right position" , and has spectacular looking new shoots :)

as soon as I saw the photos, I thought "that looks like pseudoarundinacea!" How is robusta different?

Justin, the "new shoots" for starters ( post 5 is a Pseudo), and Pseudo has Limer green culms and more Tropical for good growth ( slow as here) and Robusta has much thicker walled culms and a hardy fast grower :)
