All,

Does any one have tips or tricks for this plant?

I got it and filled a hole in the garden with it. Looking forward to some growth and inflorescence this year.

Thanks,

Cordyline stricta seems pretty indestructible.... it grows in almost pure sand with almost no water

But it looks better with water and a good soil.

Overtime it forms a massive tuber and numerous stems and sends out rhizomes which over time will pop up all over your garden .

Lucky I put it into a planter that is surrounded by concrete......

John,

Massive is a relative word I guess.  The biggest tuber I found was about the size of a mans head,  but that was very old say in the region of 40-50 years.   In that case C. stricta had spread over an area of 50 ft x 30ft, with some quite thick rhizomes between the clumps.... say 1/2" to 1" thick.    On the other hand I had clumps growing in my own garden which did not spread very widely.... they were starved of water and fert.
