Hi All,

I am trying to get the names of a tree and a vine that is probably a weed.

Any ideas of this would be appreciated.

First pic is of the leaf of a large tree.

Thanks,

Jim

Tree - something like a Dombeya ? I'm wrong, though.

Vine - Golden Hops. Have one on my fence - love it. Not invasive for me, but for you, probably.

Possibly a catalpa for the tree?

Tree is some sort of Malvaceae, maybe Hibiscus, Talipariti or some such. Have any flowers or seed capsules?

I've seen that vine in Hawaii, where I'm pretty sure it's invasive. Fragrant flowers. But I forget the name; will check...

Possibly Thespesia populnea for the tree?

Thanks for the replys.

However I am sure that it is not Thespesia as we have many of those around here. This is a much larger tree and also seen growing in some inland regions and looks much better combined with good soil.

Here's another pic showing the full tree.

More ideas appreciated.

Here the tree is called Madora and the bark is used as medicine for aliments effecting women and to strengthen them after child birth.

I have some Firmiana colorata coming and will be able to tell you if that's it, or not.
