Recently my wife picked up a couple of Ti plants. They are doing very poorly in the house, as it is far too dry inside for them.

I just took them outside as they are dropping leaves and need some humidity (luckily it wil be raining off and on for the next few days).

Is it worth the try to put them in the landscape (under some sort of canopy, of course) to see if they survive?

It would be nice to have them for the color, but it seems unlikely around here with 25 degree winters and 115 degree summers.....

Brentwood looks to be Sunset zone 22, just fine for growing Cordyline terminalis outdoors.  They'll look ragged in winter, better with cover, but when it warms up they should grow nicely.  These should also do fine indoors unless your furnace registers are blasting them or you are overwatering.  They are growing in the very dry air-conditioned high rise office building where I work, so why not your house? ???   (I take it the Sunset zones in your signature are meant to be in fun?)

Also, wait until April to plant out, it's too cool now.

I would be surprise if they can deal with the prolong winters.

My HD had triples and good sized too, for $11.00 ! Picked up a bunch. If you can get them that cheap, leave them in pots and put them inside or in the garage during to two really cold months.

Mine seem quite happy in my polytunnel.  I did have a fog system maintaining the humidity, but the hard water was causing problems, so it has been off for a few weeks, but the Ti's still seem quite happy and growing well.  You could try occasional misting or maybe a wet gravel tray beneath the pots.  Also mine seem to like quite a lot of light, although if they can grow in an office building, I doubt that is a major issue.
