Congrats. If we can get just one more warm winter here, I might actually pull this off in Louisiana.

Nickolas,

Mine are flowering now also. I think that means that we won't be getting fruit until late winter which is the worst time for trying to build up sugars.

I always just assumed they would flower in the spring. You got all excited and I ran out to check for flowers. Crazy new growth, but that is all, sigh.

This thread has inspired me to plant one of these. Thanks gents

I had a small bloom about 2 moago that failed to set fruit.

Now it's loaded with flowers.

I wonder how long from bloom to ripe fruit.

My starfruit is about 15 ft tall 15 year old seedling that seems to get frosted back evey year, but recovers.

Never got any fruit.

I don't know what cultivar mine is, but they are huge & always sweet. The last batch produced over 200.

My wife slices them into stars, sprinkles them with olive oil & sugar, then grills them until they caramelize. Yum! :mrlooney:

Fresh harvested carambola! Mmmm mmmm!

post-5111-0-67611900-1393478156_thumb.jp

Nice! We ended up having so many that the tree is sagging! I eat about 5 a day for the last few weeks. I love how juicy they are. This is our first year with fruit so I don't know what to expect in the future with winters that won't be this warm, but I'm enjoying it while I can.

Mango is flowering like crazy right now. I'm looking forward to getting our first mangoes this summer :yay:
