Nyctanthes arbor-tristis - leaves of three!

Featured Replies

One of my colleagues from India wanted to grow some of these, so he ordered some seeds online and I helped him germinate them. Quite a few germinated, and all but one had two cotyledons and true leaves in pairs. This one, however, had three cotyledons and is growing leaves in sets of three. Has anyone ever seen this?

Hmm...no one is growing this, or has thoughts on why a dicot would have three cotyledons?

Possibly some sort of mutation. I'm guessing it'll revert to normal after a few sets of leaves.

SoCal and SoFla; zone varies by location.

Latest set still has 3.
