My buddy who has a ton of plumerias gave me about a dozen seeds. What's the best way to germinate them? I have a growing tray and a heat mat. Any tips would be great!

1. Place seeds on a damp paper towel, making sure the "wings" are all facing upwards. Fold the paper towel so the seeds are compleletly covered by the damp (not soaking wet) paper towel.
2. Place the damp paper towel into a plastic bag, then seal.
3. Hang the plastic bag in a warm area.. not full sunlight.
4. Check the bag for moisture level every few days. Just making sure it is still damp.
5. You should see roots sprouting within 7- 14 days.
6. Plant the sprouted seeds in the same mixture as you would use for the plumeria plants/ cuttings.
7. Place the pot in sunlight.
8. Do Not over water. After the initial planting, give the pot a good soaking, then, just keep checking it every few days. You'll need to keep the soil a little moist

Steve- Why not save some time and just put a few cuttings from your friend's plumeria in a bucket of water and when it roots stick it in the ground. I do this all the time with mine and give the rooting cuttings away to friends.-Peter

Seeds used to germinate on there own at my old, unirrigated place. Seeds are a lot slower but you get the chance of having a unique colored flower.

So many species,

so little time.
