Four Genus seeds, bound for Japan

Featured Replies

Hi All, I'm looking for bulk seeds (100 of each) of the following palms:

Hedyscepe canterburyana

Howea fosteriana

Kentiopsis olivoformis

Rhopalostylis sapida or bauerii

I wonder if there is any vendor with all of them. I'll be bringing them into Japan, and will ask for phyto certs. If you don't have the certs but have the seeds, I'm still interested in talking. You can PM me.

(I'd particularly like to hear from any Australian growers who might have these.)

Cheers,

JT

Bump.

No growers anywhere...?

rps.com?

I'm guessing some Aukland or Sydney growers should have these. It might not be the right season for mature seed though..

Fees for a Phyto from Australia: http://www.daff.gov.au/biosecurity/export/plants-plant-products/fees-charges/plant-exports-fees-and-charges

Japan will require a phyto, but not treatment of seed nor an import permit: http://www.daff.gov.au/micor/plants/japan_jp/all8

Good luck with the process. Unfortunately I think you will find that the certification will far exceed the cost of the seeds.

Thanks, SanDimas, I'm giving enough money to RPS now; would prefer to spread out my purchases and start working with more "local" growers.

Thanks for the info Eric. So far, with three smaller shipments, I haven't been asked for a phyto, but just may have been lucky.

I wish I could find those ANZ growers...

Cheers,

JT

  • 2 weeks later...

I have seen all four available on eBay over the past year from Queensland and NSW sellers (or from seeds found in local parks), but they seem to be seasonal. Keep looking and I am sure they will turn up.
