This is Ficus aspera 'Parcellii', Mosaic or Clown Fig. It can grow into a medium sized tree 20-30 feet. The markings on some of the leaves almost look pixelated. Even the figs are striped on this tree. It is native to Vanuatu in the South Pacific.

    This is a great tree that I almost never see in cultivation. Will grow in coastal SoCal.

    It is a beautiful, well behaved Ficus. With the variegation and the big red "clown nose", it should be grown more. I think I will try some cuttings on the one in the Arboretum.

    Probably will get the scale but lac scale never amounted to the problem it was made out to be. I will check it out. We hardly spray anything so we have a decent predator insect population.

    That one has nice coloring Jerry. Have you been able to root cuttings from it? I haven't had any luck with cuttings from ours.

    "Looks" like it would be easy... :hmm: but...

    I'd try two or three-node cuttings with the terminals removed, under mist. Just a guess; haven't tried this species yet. Airlayers should work if visitors will leave 'em alone...

    Hi, I am wondering if anyone can advise whether this Fig has invasive roots - I'd love to plant it in my Sydney garden but don't want to live to regret it! Thanks
