Hi,

I picked up a strange seed on a beach in Yucatan, Mexico and was wondering if anyone has any idea as to what plant it came from! It was buoyant and was in a papery/woody sort of pouch. The seed inside was whitish and had small, almost brain-like folds on its surface! It germinated pretty quickly (epigeal germination) and the pictures of the seedling are below:

Any ideas? I'm well and truly stumped!

Also, is this a seedling of Ceiba pentandra?

I think it might be an Annona glabra seed.
