15 gallon? Good luck, and pretty expensive.

I've visited alot of the South Florida nurseries myself over the years and have never even seen a 15 gallon xerophila for sale. The best you can hope for is 7 gallon size running $125 - $300. Even this size is very hard to come by...

I've seen 3 gallons at several locations in the $60 to $90 range. 1 gallons can cost you $15 to $30. Not a cheap palm to start with as they are very slow growing, and on top of that, have a tendency to rot out and die under the wet Florida conditions.

I've been growing one for many years in Pensacola Fl. It's always stayed in a pot outside and has done great. It has been a trouble free palm to grow. Rain & humidity have not bothered it at all. It does like extreamly fast draining soil. It's like growing many of the blue Encephalartos here in Fl mound planting with fast draining potting media mixed with rock is key. It was a large plant when I got it and now it's busting out of it's 45gal pot. It's one of favorite palms in my collections.

We will see how it goes I might have to settle for something smaller --- I saw a 3 gallon on at a friends house and was surprised it had taken the cold.

Much obliged for the information.

Best regards

I got mine in a citrus container for about 50 bucks--it was almost 4 feet tall at that size too. It's an easy palm to grow--just plant it and forget about it :) My louvelii is much slower than it is and it might be tied with my hildebrandtii.
