Our Bearss Lime is supposed to be on dwarf rootstock, but I swear man, this thing was turning into a monster! It's been in the ground about 3 years and it was already stout and pushing about 10 feet tall with branches all the way to the ground and more limes than I can use, give away, throw at coyotes, step on, you name it! So after letting this thing get established, it was time to do our first major structural prune-job. We collected 2 5 gallon bucket of fruit during the prune and that was just the ones that we felt like picking up. You can see there's tons still on the ground, tons that rolled down the hill, and a lot still on the tree! :D Fruit trees love to be pruned and if you do it right you can make yourself a nice open tree that will support heavy loads of fruit, all within arms length. I was pretty happy with the way this lime tree came out. Take a look.
