Large specimen, about 10 feet tall to new spear top, planted three years ago, about to trunk.

Three nights 28 F, -1 C, no damage, so far.

Amazing.  Its relatives not so lucky.

No damage seen (yet) after 3 days from 27F for 5 hours.  Very slight protection from now dead Archontophoenix myolensis seedling that was nearby.  This seedling is about 2.5' tall overall and has been growing fast. Just 2' from house wall, but also that is where temp guage is.

Now, 7 days later, realized damage worse than I thought... all leaves will be lost, but plant will probably pull through...?

Well another week later and looks like plant is dead... wow... a slow kill on this one.

Dave, P. lanaiiensis doesn't trunk. It is similar to P. marti. Actually the palm from Lanai has not been id. The seeds come from a cultivated palm. I have one in my garden 15 years, no trunk. Beautiful thing. Golden fuss under leaves.

Far and away the toughest one I have.

Big one, four nights of 28=29 F, no frost, hardly any damage.  Right next to P. hillbrandtii and schauteri.
