Gang,

With the help of this forum, I was able to purchase a mangosteen tree from Frankie's Nursery in Hawaii. It arrived today in great condition. I am not going to put in the ground until a little later. Right now I just put the pot slightly into the ground so that it does not topple over because of any wind.

I have a big hole dug already, but I have a backyard project going on and I don't want to do anything until it is done. Some big plantings on the way.........

You hear that Ken Johnson ?

The Mangosteen is the one in the middle

The leaves are nice and green:

This is a photo of a baby mangosteen fruit taken last weekin Puerto Rico. I hope I'll be able to be back to our farm when they are ripe!!! This is the BEST year ever for this fruit for us with 6 trees (about 15 years old) fruiting. There are still other trees (perhaps in too much sun) that have yet to fruit after 15 years. Ripe seeds are easy to germinate so if anyone has patience, feel free to PM me. I'll keep a list and this Fall I expect to have seed to give away. Even if I can't enjoy the fruit, the former owner usually sends seeds for us. You would need to plant seed promptly and keeping the tree above 50 degrees is ideal I think. Good Luck with your mangosteen from Frankie's nursery! I've enjoyed ordering from them in the past.
