Here is a very old and mature specimen of Couroupita guianensis, known as the cannonball tree due to its fruit. This one is growing in a public park but well fenced, perhaps to dissuade anyone from plucking the beautiful flowers. As such these are very rare to find in cultivation, and even more rare in the centre of an urban area.

The flowers and fruit are borne on long woody stalks that are are produced even at ground level
