It has been cold but not freezing in this area. A few recent shots of some specimens and we will see how they fare in the days to come. If this stuff continues, our best hope will be replacement with Slash Pines:

Seagrape taken yesterday and today with one additional big jungler:

I fully expect the Sea Grapes to look like Fall very soon with this cold.

Yes, the Coccoloba looks like it got a little whacked by the cold weather. They're usually ok thought they like to have a little bit more notice before the cold sets in. Though my climate is colder, I don't usually see any leaf discoloration due to the cold since they harden off with a gradual cool down.

The bananas around here are still holding on and my clusea rosea variegated form hasn't shown any signs of damage, even unprotected. Reminds me, I have some air layers I started on a variegated sea grape at a friends nursery I should see how they are doing. Most of the big sea grapes around here melted last winter, along with so many other things.

Did the Sea grapes come back after the cold last year? They should have sprouted from the roots.

They have all come back, many of the ones planted along the interstate really took a hit so the city cut them down to the ground. Theirs still some big ones around the beaches and some other protected areas, I imagine many were cut down, just because they looked so bad.
