PSEUDOPTERIS DECIPIENS : not a palm but worthwhile combined with in gardens

Featured Replies

This is a small non-ramified tree which use to arouse interest among palm lovers when they visit my garden.

One characteristic is the sweet caramel perfume, just when being cooked, that exhales at night -for more than a week- from the flowers and spread all over the nearby homes. To such a degree that the first blooming made me believe in some kind of a caramel addict cooking it everynight in the neighborhood.

Best regards

Hery

Yes, not so many seeds, but unfortunately being parsitical upon fastly if left on the tree, just after the fruits are ripened. Nonetheless, I gave some seedlings to friends, here in Reunion, and they are now around one meter tall. The tallest in Reunion, are these upon the photos. For the next harvest in a few months I could be meticulous in the follow-up and save seeds for palmtalk friends...

It would be a free pleasure to send some to you in a padded envelope. As soon as it would be convenient for you give me your Email adress, or I manage to add you as my palmtalk friend -I 'm not well accustomed yet- so as we keep in touch. In any case, I note you down as the first for the pseudopteris seeds.

Regards.

I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!

It won't be a problem for me to send around the world half a dozen of padded envelops with ten seeds or so, given the seeds are longan seed size. My only fears will be being not faithful to my saying, or the customs meddle in and stop the delivering.

Hery,,

PM me see wot you would like and see if we can sort out something

I'm sure..

Figures it comes from Madagascar.

Exactly, I picked them on Sainte-Marie Island, Madagascar Northeast coast, in 1998. The genus consists of three species, all native from the north and the east coast of Madagascar.
