Cold Hardy Avocados

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am looking to get a cold hardy avocado that will do well in the SE US 8b/9a borderline region (really more of a 9a). I was looking for the gainesville and mexicola varieties but seem to be having difficulties locating the Gainesville variety. Anyone sell these or know of where I could buy them?

They're in Gainesville and have a few varieties. I've seen what folks are calling "gainesville" avocado for sale at some of the edible landscape sales so I think they may have been selling them.

Give them a call.

You could always get cuttings from the tree on campus and try and root your own.
