Hello, everyone!

This Saturday, we're having our big meeting.

The Robert Jenkins Garden

Mr. Jenkins has one of the most mature palm gardens in Ventura on an extra-large lot at the end of a cul-de-sac. His garden features towering, canopy-sized Howeas and Archontophoenix alexandrae and tuckeri, plus all kinds of other cool tropical plants, including palms thriving under that glorious canopy.

A stunning centerpiece is a mature Chambeyronea that is more than 20 feet tall, one of the biggest in Southern California. Other highlights include: a Dictyosperma album with 10 feet of trunk; trunking Rhopalistylus; trunking Cocothrinax over 7 feet tall; a Dypsis letpocheilos (Teddy Bear Palm) with 4 feet of trunk. There are about 20 species of Chamadorea including potchulensis, costaricana, nationsiana, elatior, glaucifolia, and plumosa

Schedule:

10:00 AM Board of Directors Meeting at Mr. Jenkins' house

11:00 AM Tour Mr. Jenkins' garden.

12:15 Depart the garden, get lunch on your own. Victoria Avenue (on which you exited to get to the Jenkins garden) features a varied restaurant row, which includes eateries like Marie Callenders, Carl's Jr., the International House of Pancakes, etc. Allow 45 minutes to eat lunch, plus 20 minutes of travel time.

1:00 PM Return to Mr. Jenkins' garden. Auction and Plant Raffle

3:30 PM Adjournment of Meeting

DIRECTIONS TO THE GARDENS

ROBERT JENKINS' GARDEN: 2335 Kudu Place, Ventura CA 93003:

from 101 Ventura freeway north- exit on Victoria, turn right onto Victoria, go north, turn right on Telephone, right on Ramelli, right on Wolverine, right on Kudu Place.

Mr. Jenkins' place is at the end of the cul-de-sac -- with all the palms!
