Join us for our upcoming meeting, potluck and auction in sunny Santa Cruz, famous for it's popular beach and boardwalk, at the home Richard Josephson on June 13 from 1-5 pm. This is a well established (1983) collection of palms, bamboos and subtropicals. Situated in Sunset zone 17, the garden features mature Acoelorrhaphe wrightii and Phoenix reclinata (both with 18 ft. trunks!) as well as mature Rhopalostylus sapida and baueri. Many other palms are featured including a Caryota gigas that is likely the largest in Northern California. A large pond and greenhouse are also included in this wonderful garden. From the peninsula take US-101 south to exit #398 Cupertino/Santa Cruz on to CA-85 South. Next take the San Jose/ Santa Cruz exit on to CA-17 south to Santa Cruz. Turn left on Broadway, left on Cayuga St. and right on Effey St.

Whoops! Sorry 'bout that...the number is 119 Effey. Basically just look for the massive palms on the small city lot. I talked to Richard today, he's looking forward to our arrival. He wanted me to mention the University of California at Santa Cruz Aboretum as a possible side tour, if you get in town early.

That sounds great, Perry! I talked to Richard recently, he is looking forward to our arrival. Ive talked to a couple of long time members who have visited Richards garden in the past and they've shared that this is quite an interesting palm and plant collection. See everyone there!

Take lots of pictures Glenn. Won't be able to make it (or most of the NorCal meetings this year). Conflicts with other events on the same weekends.

Sorry to hear that Robert. I'll try to take a lot of pics. Are you coming to Dick's or the Somolowe gardens?
